MyeongdongCathedralThey studied one of the book brought by Yi, Sung Hun when he came back from Peking ,China ,the name of book is “Real Doctrine of God” written by Matteo Ricci and compared Christian philosophy with Confucian philosophy.

And finally all of them accepted on the existence of God the Creator of human and the reality of eternal life.Since Yi, Byok joined this group, they started living a spiritual life that they offered prayers and practiced their faith according to the regulations made up by themselves.

Yi, Sung Hun baptized Yi, Byok, with the name of John the Baptist despite lay person was not able to baptize others. In the Autumn of 1784, Yi, Byok baptized Kim, Beom Woo and his brother residing at Myungryebang in Seoul.Since that time, Kim, Beom woo’s house was their gathering place for prayers and worship. Kim, Beom woo later on donated his own house to the Church. 

Therefore we was able to build Myeongdong cathedral, and it was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception on May 29,1898 after 6 years constructions.
